Mothers at the foot of the cross

Yesterday was Mothers Day in North America.

Brian seized the opportunity and preached on mothers. His text came from John and the account of the crucifuxion. He focussed on two main thoughts.

The need to honor our mothers (and fathers) and how Jesus cared for mothers including his own. He stressed how fom the cross our Lord made sure that Mary would be cared for after his death.

Brian referred to the mother of Jesus coming to the foot of the cross and illustrated that a good mother will spend time at the foot of the cross. At the foot of the cross, good mothers become great mothers, he added.

I love it when Brian preaches - he's our associate Pastor.

I believe the best mothers in the world are those who have God as their Heavenly Father and daily abide with Him.

That is a beautiful illustration.

Have you ever noticed that God takes the time to record the mother of almost every King in the book of Chronicles.

Check it out. Every time you have a good king, you will notice that he had a good mother, and almost every time you had a bad king, the mother was also mentioned.

yes, I noticed. One mother I do not like is Athaliah in 2 chronicles (and probably somwhere in Kings). She tried to destroy the royal seed of Judah, but the Lord hid Joash.

Yuck, I do not like her. Nobody likes a wicked mother. I really do not mind reading how God destroys them.

I hope your mom has read the tribute in your journal.
